What I Believe ...

The Early Story

My testimony is pretty simple. I am the daughter of a wonderful couple who chose to teach me about the love of Jesus. I am blessed to have heard the Name of Jesus before I even took my first breath. Having the honor of growing up as the granddaughter of a Pastor, I spent much time at church in addition to regular church services.

This church was normal to me, but I guess to some - it was a good, old-fashioned country church. All I knew and know still - I had an authentic experience with Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord there. Nothing has compared ...since.

My foundation was founded, set, and rooted in faith of Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord. Surrounded by godly family members who imparted their love and wisdom into me - I pursued my walk with Jesus asking Him to forgive me of my sins and be my Savior at a young age. He has been faithful in my life through the good and not-so-good times. Jesus became my best friend many years ago.

During my early teenage years, I had the privilege to be a part of a girl's program at our church called, "Stairway to the Stars." The STARS in the Stairway to the Stars program stands for four inspirational and influential women of God in the Bible - SUSANNA, TABITHA, ANNA, RUTH - with S for Honor Star.

My mom was a great encouragement, instrumental, and supportive as I worked through this and ultimately accomplished the "Honor Star" achievement. I was the third "Honor Star" at our church - following Kandy and Lisa before me - with great respect.

In this process, I gleaned so much from the leaders in my life; but more importantly - from the Word of God. Memorizing Scripture and reciting it to leaders as a part of completing each step was a major portion of this in-depth program. There were several steps to pass, including the "Honor Star" portion. Additionally, for overall completion - What We Believe, "STATEMENT OF FAITH," had to be memorized and quoted for a leader. In my "Honor Star" crowning ceremony, quoting from memory What We Believe, "STATEMENT OF FAITH," was something I was required to do along with other cites from each step in front of my church family ...and I am very thankful it was.

This experience only strengthened my faith foundation and walk with Jesus. I love the Word of God. My heart gravitates toward Scripture. It is the compass and light for my path and how I - with my amazing husband, have raised my family. Apart from Jesus, I can do nothing

(John 15:5). Jesus is the living Word of God (John 1:1). I desire to live for Him just as much today as I did when I was a little girl ...enjoying His love and presence in my good old-fashioned, country church.

Despite my imperfections, my heart has always desired to live a life that is a witness of Jesus Christ and His love - bringing glory to Him. Jesus is everything to me and will continue to be until my final breath.

What I Believe ...

1. THE SCRIPTURES INSPIRED

WE BELIEVE the Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative Word of God

(II Timothy 3:15, 16; II Peter 1:21)

2. THE ONE TRUE GOD

WE BELIEVE there is one true God, eternally existing in three Persons:

God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost

(Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; Mark 12:29; John 5:17-30)

3. THE DEITY OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST

WE BELIEVE in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal future return to this earth in power and glory to rule a thousand years

(Isaiah 7:14; Hebrews 7:26; Acts 2:22; I Corinthians 15:3,4; Acts 1:9-11)

4. THE BLESSED HOPE

WE BELIEVE in the Blessed Hope, which is the Rapture of the Church at Christ's coming

(I Thessalonians 4:16, 17; Romans 8:23; Titus 2:13; I Corinthians 15:51, 52)

5. THE SALVATION OF MAN

WE BELIEVE that the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Christ

(Luke 24:27; Romans 8:16; Romans 10:13-15; Titus 2:11, Titus 3:5-7)

6. THE EVIDENCE OF THE BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT

WE BELIEVE that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential

for personal salvation

(Acts 2:4; I Corinthians 12:4-10; I Corinthians 12:28)

7. DIVINE HEALING

WE BELIEVE that the redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides healing of the

human in answer to believing prayer

(Isaiah 53:4, 5; Matthew 8:16, 17; James 5:14-16)

8. THE BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT

WE BELIEVE that the baptism of the Holy Spirit according to Acts 2:4, is given to

believers, who ask for it

9. SANCTIFICATION

WE BELIEVE in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the

Christian is enabled to live a holy life

(Hebrews 12:14; I Peter 1:15, 16; Philippians 2:12, 13)

10. THE FINAL JUDGMENT

WE BELIEVE in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting damnation

(Matthew 25:46; Mark 9:34-48; Revelation 19:20;

Revelation 20:11-15; Revelation 21:8)

Simply Human ...Simply Grateful

I share this testimony for the glory of Jesus in my life.

I am deeply grateful for those who have poured into me and influenced my walk with the Lord. It is something I have not and will not ever take for granted.
