When Heaven Holds More ...

Are you like me …while growing up you were surrounded by a large group of people that you knew loved you?  Did you have those places that were just …you?  If you are, you might relate to some things I have experienced lately.  

The whole time I was a kid, a teenager, and even a young wife and Mom - I knew who was for me.  When my sons were little, I knew they were loved and prayed for by the same people who had been loving and praying for me …all of my life. 

I am so thankful for my incredible husband, amazing sons, and soon-to-be daughter-in-love. I know I get this love and prayers from them, and they get this from me, without a doubt.  We always will for each other and those to come into our precious family. I am also extremely thankful for my wonderful brother and nieces. I am assured we as a family intentionally share love, respect, and a strong relationship.  

I recently had two extremely great losses in my life. Well, not just me - all of our family knows these losses. And it hurts.  We have lost these, who not only loved us - but supported us, enjoyed us, and prayed for us. 

Sometimes it can seem that there are more against you than those that are for you …here on this earth.  You know your devoted family loves you, absolutely.  Still, for many - there is the extended family in addition to your beautiful immediate family, that loves you.  Those that loved you and you just KNEW IT.  Those who prayed for you and your kids without you having to ask.  Those who cheered for you, hurt with you, accepted everything about you without criticism, backstabbing, or distorted gossip.  Those - those trusted relationships - seem to be less around us, than what once were. 

We are now at a point where Heaven holds more of those who loved us …than are among us today.  

It is a surreal moment in life with this realization.  You always want to know your kids have people they can count on, that are for them, and they know unconditionally love them.  More of those …Heaven holds.  

I am grateful for the ones still in our lives that I can count on. I am one that can be counted on for those in my life, to be what I wanted and what I needed …I am here.  

To know Heaven holds more of those who were for me is just a sense of sadness that I am working through.  As time continues on, I’m sure it will only advance.   I miss those already gone before me.  I miss what their presence meant to me. I miss what mattered to them on behalf of my family. 

Though I do miss these …I recognize what I had, how blessed I was, and am still. I know what I have to offer to those around me who will receive it and what they give to me.  I pause, ponder, and pray that I never take it or them for granted - ever!

If you’re like me …know you’re not alone.  Heaven may hold more of those who were for us, who loved us; but what that provides for us is a GREAT CLOUD OF WITNESSES that we can embrace. 

Hebrews 12:1-2

1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off every encumbrance and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with endurance the race set out for us. 

2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

For those still with us …let us bring our best to each other while there is that time.  Together, we can pour into each other the love, prayers, support, loyalty, and joy we came to know.  What a lifetime with those loved ones we were blessed with.  Only now, we can truly be what we benefited from for those in our lives.
